Castlehead Fishery opening

WADAA is pleased to announce that Castlehead Fishery will be reopening on Tuesday the 16th of April for all WADAA members and on Good Friday (19th of April) for day tickets. As I am sure you are aware there is been a lot of work done at the fishery recently which will make this a fantastic fishery, especially for beginners and the disabled.

There are now 18 pegs including 3 large disabled pegs. All of which are newly built and secure. On top of this, there has been a new car park built with enough space for 6 cars and 2 disabled priority spaces and 14 spaces in the lower car park. There is then a gravel path leading to the 3 large disabled pegs and round most of the lake. Please note that fishing from the old platforms is strictly forbidden! It is simply just not safe, these structures have been left in the provided features for the fish.

The club is grateful to the British Disabled Angling Association for their support in this project. For more information on this organisation please see their website www.bdaa.co.uk. WADAA would also like to thank Cemex for their support in laying the new car parks and path, JT Atkinson in Ulverston for donating the wood to make the new pegs. All of this work could not have been done without the support of Harvey the owner, so thank you Harvey from all of us at WADAA.

WADAA has recently stocked with 1100lbs of carp between 3 and 6lb’s. These will then be supplemented with other species of coarse fish later in the season. It is worth noting that when the work on the lake has been completed several larger fish have been spotted, proving there are some of the original fish left in, so who knows what you might catch. For more information on the lake including the location and fishery rules please refer to the Castlehead Fishery page on our website.

Tight lines.
