It is with deep sadness that WADAA would like to inform its members of the death of Neil Birkinshaw. Neil was a member of WADAA for over 20 years and was Fishery Manager for over 12 years. Neil was a strong-minded character who brought passion and enthusiasm to the first role of Fishery Manager at WADAA.
Following his appointment to Fishery Manager, Neil’s influence was pivotal in the success of WADAA. The opening up of the clubs membership to people in the wider area outside Ambleside was driver forward and implemented by Neil a number of years ago. So if you are one of our members whom this applies to, next time you are fishing on one of our wonderful waters, give him a thought.
Having worked for the club for over 12 years, Neil decided to retire in 2018, to enjoy time with his wife Linda.
However, due to a deterioration in his health, his retirement has been cut very short.
The Board of WADAA wishes Linda our deepest condolences.
