Fishing news 2020

The season so far!

15 February 2020

The season has well and truly started

The start of the 2020 season has been a wet one! Despite this, the improvements to the WADAA fisheries have continued. Most notably is the completion of the project at Ratherheath Tarn. The transformation of this fishery has been phenomenal. Please follow the link (Ratherheath Project Completion) to the document outlining the developments of this fishery. You can also see some of the images below or on the Ratherheath page.

On the Trout front, the fishing has gone from strength to strength. The new stocking regime started in 2019 is really paying off with very healthy numbers of fish overwintering, with catches of 15+ fish in January. So far in 202o, there have been multiple stockings to all of our game waters. The biggest fish reported so far has been just over 8lb at Farletonview.

WADAA is also pleased to announce the continuation of the Junior coaching and taster events. These were started in 2019 and were very successful. For 2020 there is an extensive program in place to boost participation in our great sport. Please see the events page for more details!

Even more, events have been planned with multiple competitions on the coarse side of things with more still to be announced so keep your eyes peeled on the events page.

Finally, please remember that membership renewals are due by the end of February. If you have not renewed by this point then you will lose your place at WADAA. This place will be offered to someone on the waiting list. If you want to join the waiting list please contact our Administration Officer.
